With a bit of focus I know there is a lot I can accomplish and I can stop limiting myself by giving the task at hand my full attention. I am notorious for starting a million things and not finishhing all of them, some of them, but not all of them.
I can focus and:
- get my laundry done
- organize my studio
- finish a task before I jump to the next
- spend time with family and friends
During the fall, I started focusing on accomplishing 3 things a day
- one thing for myself like working out, coffee with friends, a pedicure (one of my favorite luxuries)
- one thing for my family
- one thing for my business
I always did more than three things in a day, but I found if I picked the one thing I needed to get done in each category I felt like I accomplished a lot. So, on a day when I was in the studio or at school helping I could still get the most important things done for that day.
For years I have always had a mantra, word or phrase or quote to inspire me. I love a good quote.
For many years it was carpe diem, or seize the day.
Focus is really about Kung Fo Panda when the master tells Po to focus, something my brother visiting over the holidays made me realize I need to do because we are related and focus helps him too.
Last year it was a quote from Thomas Edison in this post that my 2nd brother posted on his FB page.
The year before that it was "If you fail to plan you plan to fail" I beleive from the Art of War, inspired in part by my youngest brother.
Announcing, my first contest ever leave a comment on your word/mantra for 2011 and I will use a random number generator to pick the winner. The winner will receive a soldered art pendant or a pair of hoop earrings, winners choice!
